Bankura wooden horse is a traditional decorative handcraft, inspired by terracotta art. As terracotta art has originated from the Panchmura village of Bankura , India the horses are often called Panchmura horses.

At first, the Bankura horses were used for religious purposes but now they are part of modern home decor. This art has been part of a 300-year-old tradition of Panchmura Village but they gained popularity for the works of the renowned painter M. F. Hussein.

This National Symbol of Indian Handicrafts is famous for its unique symmetric shape and rounded curves in the body. They were around 6 inches to 35 inches & were made of terracotta but now due to popularity & portability issues they are made of wood.
